MTBワールドカップ世界選手権 2011 シャンペリー
「ウィッチマン、ウィッチマンがホールショットを決めた！おっと！嘘だろ、全員転倒！！これじゃあ大虐殺じゃないか！」
シャンペリーで行われたMTB 4X世界選手権。
ゲートが開いたとほぼ同時に、思わずこう口走ったのは、Freecaster.TVでコメンテーターを務める、ロブ・ワーナー。

実に惜しかった。
シャンペリーの地で、勢いに燃えていたヨースト・ウィッチマン。未だ彼が最高峰のマウンテンバイカーの一人だということを世界に知らしめた。
決勝で彼の競争相手となったのは、グレイヴス、プロコップ、そしてリンダーネヒト。ヨ--ストはホールショットを決めた。
ゲートを飛び出た時点では彼が最速。しかし最初のターンで前輪のスリップを抑えることができず。。。バーン！とクラッシュ。 夢が絶たれた。 結果3位。
ヨ--スト：「レースはそんなもんだよ、と人は言う。来年があるじゃないか、みんな君が一番だったはずだって知ってるよ、僕たちの目には君がチャンピオンだったよ、なんて皆言ってくれる。こんな風に気遣ってくれるのは嬉しいけれど、これら励ましの言葉が何かもたらしてくれるか、って言ったらそうじゃないんだよね。最終的にレインボージャージは手に入っていないんだ。手にしたのは銅メダル。そう、決して悪くないよ。でも欲しかったものと違うんだ。
しかし、焦点をそらさずに夢を追って、来年も心機一点、頑張るよ。」

These were the words of Rob Warner, commentator of Freecaster.tv, after the gate dropped at the MTB 4X World Champs in Champery. (see link above for video)
So close! Joost was on fire in Champery and showed the world he is still one of the best mountainbikers around.
In the big final he was up against Graves, Prokop and Rinderknecht. Joost took the holeshot.
He was simply the fastest out of the gate.
But he couldn't prevent his front wheel from slipping in the first turn.
Boom.. end of dream, result 3rd place.
Joost: "That's racing people say... next year... we know you were the fastest tonight... in our eyes you are the champion... and so on. This is all very nice to say, but brings you nothing, at the end you still don't have the rainbow jersey.... you got bronze..NOT BAD, but not what you want. Stay focused and chase your dream, next year a new shot!"
